Melissa Mary Jenkins is an abstract artist + natural ink maker located near Erin, Ontario. She gathers wild botanicals just outside her home studio in an old stone farm house. For this series, Melissa handcrafted ink from wild jewelweed leaves + flowers, sumac berries, dwarf fireweed flowers, avocado stones + copper oxide to create shades of butter-orange, pink, terracotta, sage + blue. She then painted several coats of ink onto natural cotton fabric, Next she on glued lines of thread to create a soft, beautiful + minimalist art piece.
